Hornet Volleyball Defeats Mary Washington in Four Games

LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College volleyball team defeated the University of Mary Washington in four games Saturday in a non-conference match, 25-23, 20-25, 25-19, 25-22.

Ahead two games to one, LC fell behind 17-11 in the fourth set. The Hornets drew even at 19 all after winning four-straight points. UMW scored the next two points, but the Hornets won the next five to seal the match. Freshman Amanda Perry delivered a kill for the final point.

Sophomore Sierra Strathy hammered 10 kills for LC, while Perry, Aricquel Payne and Jennifer Garrett each had seven kills.  Gabby Myers and Mackenzie Ross combined for 37 assists, and Payne and Page each had 11 digs. Perry also had 10 digs and three service aces, and Myers had four aces.

Kayla Crawford had a match-high 12 kills for the Eagles (9-6) and Emma Olson had 29 assists.

The Hornets (8-11) host Eastern Mennonite University Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in an old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) match.
