LC Volleyball Defeats Randolph in Three

LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College volleyball team defeated cross-town rival Randolph College in three sets Wednesday night, 25-13, 27-25, 25-18 in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) match.

LC opened the first set on fire, breezing to victory behind a .500 hitting percentage. The WildCats had a lead of 24-21 in the second set, but three-straight points from the Hornets tied it at 24. Randolph earned the next point, but LC won the next three to take the set, the final two points being a service ace from Amanda Perry and a kill from Sierra Strathy.

Jennifer Garrett blasted a game-high 11 kills for Lynchburg and added five blocks. Perry and Aricquel Payne each had six kills, and Gabby Myers totaled 18 assists and seven digs. Mackenzie Ross tallied 16 assists, seven digs and three blocks, while Sam Page had a team-best eight digs.

Randolph's Jordan Templin tied for game-bests with 11 kills and eight digs. Kerry McMichael had 18 assists for the WildCats (7-5/1-4 ODAC).

Lynchburg (5-8/2-3 ODAC) travels to the Emory University (GA) Tournament this weekend for four non-conference matches.
