Q and A with Hornet of the Week Sierra Strathy

Q and A with Hornet of the Week Sierra Strathy

The Lynchburg College athletic department each week showcases a question and answer feature with our Hornet of the Week. The 2nd student-athlete selected this year is women's volleyball sophomore Sierra Strathy.

Strathy had one of the best weekends of her career in the Greg Giovanazzi Memorial Tournament at Johns Hopkins University this past weekend. The sophomore had a team-high 36 kills while hitting .571 in the four matches. Strathy also accumulated 13 blocks and nine service aces, garnering all-tournament team honors as the Hornets went 3-1.

You led the team in kills and blocks this weekend. How did your performance help drive the team to three victories at the JHU Tournament?

By leading our team in kills and blocks, I also encouraged the team to keep intensity on the court.

What is your favorite thing about Lynchburg volleyball?

One of my favorite things about Lynchburg Volleyball is my team. We are one small family working together for a common goal, winning ODAC's.

What do you like most about Lynchburg College?

I like the campus and small class sizes at Lynchburg College. The small sizes allow me to have more interaction with my professors unlike at a larger school.

How do you think being a student-athlete has affected you personally?

By being a student-athlete, I have had to increase my time management skills. As a student-athlete, I have to create goals for myself on and off the court to do my best. I succeed in the classroom because I know that I am not only representing myself, but my team as well.
