Rebecca Loftis Slams 13 Kills as LC Volleyball Sweeps Catholic on Senior Day

LYNCHBURG, VA – Senior Rebecca Loftis delivered 13 kills in 21 attempts Sunday afternoon as the Lynchburg College volleyball team defeated Catholic University in non-conference play. The program's five seniors were recognized before pre-match introductions.

The win today gives the LC volleyball team five-straight victories and caps a perfect week for the Hornet athletic program. The field hockey, men's soccer, women's soccer and volleyball teams combined to go 10-0, eight in Old Dominion Athletic Conference action.

Sophomore Aricquel Payne had eight kills and eight digs, while freshman Sierra Strathy had seven kills and six blocks. Sophomore Brittany Crawford added six kills and 12 digs, while seniors Brooke Moughon and Rachel Turk combined for 33 assists. Senior Molly Deacon had 13 digs.

Claudia Jean had 16 kills and 15 digs for the Cardinals (24-7). Mariah Cruz had 26 assists and seven digs and Kristina Purcell had 17 digs.

The Hornets (21-6) will compete at the Christopher Newport University Invitational next weekend.
