LC VB Splits Final Two Matches of Goucher Invite, All-Tourney Team Announced

TOWSON, MD- The Lynchburg College volleyball team split a pair on the final day of the Goucher Invite, finishing the weekend with a 3-1 record.

Lynchburg flew past City College of New York 25-14, 25-9, 25-9 in the 2 p.m. match.

Freshman Sierra Strathy and Sophomore Aricquel Payne each collected 10 kills while posting great hitting percentages. Strathy ended with a .833 percentage, while Payne was at .769.

Rachel Turk added 11 assists while Brooke Moughon had eight assists and five service aces. The Hornets had more kills than CCNY, 36-7, and assists 28-0.

Dalliana Toussaint had four kills for the Beavers (5-13).

The Hornets faced the only other team to go without a loss in the Goucher Invitational in the final game of the tournament. Stevenson defeated the Hornets 25-16, 25-19, 25-19 in a hard fought match.

Senior Rebecca Loftis led the Hornets with eight kills. Brittany Crawford had seven. Moughon led the team with 13 assists. Turk added 12. Payne was the only Hornet in double-figure digs with 11.

Avery Gabbard and Christine Isenberg each had 12 kills for the Mustangs (24-2). Stevenson had an advantage in hitting percentage .433 to .158.

Crawford was named as a member of the Goucher Invitational All-Tournament Team following the final match.

Lynchburg plays in Turner Gymnasium against Randolph-Macon Wednesday, October 10. The match is set to start at 7 p.m.
