LC Flies Past Eagles in Clean Sweep

FREDERICKSBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College volleyball team defeated the University of Mary Washington 25-23, 25-16, and 25-20 in a non-conference match on Saturday.  It was the sixth consecutive win for the Hornets and the fourth match in a row where they did not lose a game.

The front line did an excellent job for the Hornets on Saturday.  Aricquel Payne registered nine kills and showed her defensive prowess, digging nine balls off the floor.  Brittany Crawford added seven kills, and Marion Lozano also helped out greatly on the defensive side, recording a season high nine digs.  Sierra Strathy blocked six Eagle attempts to finish with the game high.

Not to be outdone by the frontline, Rachel Turk recorded her second straight double-double, and fifth of the year.  She assisted on 25 kills and had 10 digs.  Molly Deacon had 16 digs, which was her second straight match with double-digits in that category.

Lynchburg (12-4 overall, 4-2 ODAC) continues its longest road trip of the season on Wednesday. LC travels across town to take on Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) rival Randolph College with the match beginning at 6:30 p.m.
