Hornets Cruise in Three Sets in LC Invitational over Randolph

LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College volleyball team did not drop any of its nine sets in the LC Invitational this weekend, finishing off Randolph College in the finale 25-11, 25-10, 25-14 on Sunday.

Kill totals increased throughout the day for LC as the Hornets posted 12 in the first game, 15 in the second, and 17 in the third. By comparison, Randolph totaled 16 kills in all three games.

Sophomore Aricquel Payne led the way for LC with 14 kills, two service aces, and two blocks. Senior Rebecca Loftis added 12 kills in 15 attempts and two solo blocks for the Hornets. Her single-game hitting percentage of .733 ranks third all-time in school history. Rachel Turk and Brooke Moughon had 18 and 14 sets respectively. Samantha Page led the team with three service aces.

Lexi Templin led the WildCats (1-3) with six kills. Lexi Harrington had two service aces and four digs to lead both categories.

Lynchburg (3-0) travels to Roanoke College (0-3) on Wednesday, September 5 for an Old Dominion Athletic Conference match at 6:30 p.m.
