Davis and Heal Headed to Nationals

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – On Sunday, the NCAA announced the participants for the Division III Track and Field National Meet, and both the Lynchburg College men and women found out one athlete per team will be attending.  Men's hurdler Rachad Davis and javelin thrower Leah Heal will be the two Hornet representatives at the meet held in La Crosse, WI by UW-La Crosse.

Davis, the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) 110 and 400 meter hurdles champion, will be competing in the 400 meter hurdles event at the meet.  He had the 15th best time in the nation this year, running the race in 53.05 at the Liberty Twilight Qualifier.  The trials for the event will be Thursday, and if he qualifies, the finals will be held on Friday.

Heal, the two-time defending ODAC javelin champion, qualified in 19th.  Her toss of 135'11" at the Virginia Challenge was a career best, and had her finish fourth behind three Division I throwers.  The javelin competition will be held on Saturday.

Live streaming of the meet will start at 3 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and then at 1:35 on Saturday.  It can be found at www.ncaa.com.  All other meet information can be accessed through http://www.uwlathletics.com/sports/2012/12/13/MTRACK_1213120030.aspx?id=122.
