Hornets Continue Successful Spring at SWAT Meet; Penick Sets Record Again

SWARTHMORE, PA – Several members of the Lynchburg College men's and women's track and field teams went to the SWAT Final Qualifying Meet at Swarthmore College on Monday, with very positive results.

For the second time in three days, Kori Penick reset the school record in the shot put competition.  Her second-place of 43'3" in the event now has her at a tie for 26th in the nation, only four spots out of qualifying for nationals.  Leah Heal also finished second in her event, throwing the javelin 132'8".

Ashley Saba had a successful run in the 1500 meter race, nearly setting a career best with a time of 4:57.72.  Kiley Trennepohl did set a personal record in the 5000 meter race, finishing at 18:19.42.

Rachad Davis finished third overall in the 400 meter hurdles, crossing the line in 54.75.  Lawrence Minor also set a career record in the 5000 meter race, finishing at 14:55.71.

The remaining competing members of the LC team will be back in action this Thursday.  The Hornets will head to Naperville, IL and North Central College for the Gregory Invitational.
