Hornets Track and Field Compete at Roanoke/VT Twilight

SALEM, VA – Members of the Lynchburg College men's and women's outdoor track and field teams participated in the Roanoke/VT Twilight on Thursday.  The event featured few full teams, but high-quality competitors were in attendance to make one last push to qualify for nationals.

Rachad Davis posted solid times in both the 110 and 400 meter hurdle races.  He ran the former in 15.13 and the latter in 54.77.

On the women's side, Aleshia Washington continued her successful freshman campaign, finishing second in the 100 meter dash, with a time of 12.57.  Not to be outdone, Christina Washington set a season best in the 400 meter dash.  Her time of 57.37 currently puts her 31st in the nation.  Thrower Leah Heal also had a very succesful day.  She set a new career best in the javelin throw with a distance 130'2", which is the second best mark in LC history and ranks 31st nationally.

With the season winding down, select Hornets will head to the Aggie Classic hosted by North Carolina A&T University on Sunday.
