Hornet Women Take Third at 2012 ODAC Indoor T&F Championships

LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College women's team finished third Friday at the 2012 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Indoor Track & Field Championships, held at Liberty University's Tolsma Center.
Roanoke College won the women's title, overthrowing the defending champion Hornets with 129 points. Washington & Lee University placed second with 110.5 and LC took third with 96 points.
Senior Christina Washington won the 200-meter dash in 26.61 and took second in the 400-meters in 59.06. LaCear Hubbard took the individual title in the long jump, leaping 17' 6 ¼" and Kori Penick earned the shot put championship with a throw of 40' 3 ½".
Freshman Aleshia Washington scored points for LC in three different events, taking second in the long jump (17' 4 ¼"), fourth in the 60-meter dash and fifth in the triple jump. Jasmyne Johnson placed second in the 200-meter dash in 26.88 and also was fifth in the 400-meter dash. Jill Dziewisz cleared 9' 3 ¼" in the pole vault to claim third place.
The Hornets are scheduled to compete in the Virginia Tech Qualifier next Saturday.
