Ashley Allen earns USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors
NEW ORLEANS, LA – Lynchburg College recent graduate Ashley Allen was named to the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) 2011 All-Academic team.
To qualify for the honor, a student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 and have met an NCAA automatic or provisional qualifying marks in an individual or relay event.
Allen finished her time at LC with a 3.97 GPA while majoring in athletic training.
A native of Richmond, VA, Allen also made the first-team CoSIDA Academic District III Women's Cross Country and Track and Field team and was the 2010-11 Indoor ODAC Women's Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Last season she set the school record in the outdoor hammer with a throw of 163' 8" at High Point to win the event - and also captured the title at two other collegiate invitational meets. She took second place at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championships in the shot put, while taking third in the discus and second in the hammer throw.
