Hornet Women Win Second-Straight with 7-2 Victory

ROANOKE, VA – The Lynchburg College women's tennis team won its second-straight match with a 7-2 victory over Hollins University in Old Dominion Athletic Conference action.

The Hornets jumped out to a quick start with an 8-0 victory by Hailey Bettencourt and Kelsey Dowling at #3 doubles. Carter Vaughn and Madison Dixon also won at #2 doubles, 8-2, before the Hollins duo of Victoria Coffee and Tiffany Hodges won 8-3 at #1 to cut the deficit to 2-1.

Lynchburg got a pair of easy singles victories from Dixon, Bettencourt and Carter Vaughn. Dixon won #4 singles 6-0, 6-0 while Vaughn took #3 singles and Bettencourt won at #5 by scores of 6-0, 6-3.

Betsy Stipa won 6-4, 6-2 at #2 singles while Dowling won 6-4, 6-4 at #6 for the final tally.

The Hornets (2-3/1-2) travel to Randolph College tomorrow to take on the WildCats at 1 p.m.
