Hornet Women's Tennis Ends Spring with 8-1 Loss to Shenandoah

WINCHESTER, VA – The Lynchburg College women's tennis squad faced off against the Hornets of Shenandoah University in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play on Wednesday for their final match of the year, and lost by a score of 8-1.

Madison Dixon and Ari Peikin took care of business at #2 doubles, winning 8-0, while Melissa Drinkard and Betsy Stipa competed hard at #1 doubles, taking six games.

Drinkard also fought hard at #1 singles and was able to win four games in both sets against Shannon Allin of Shenandoah. Stipa competed at #2 singles, losing the first set 0-6, but did not back down and won the second set 6-4, before finally losing in the third set 2-6.

On the year, Stipa was able to collect five wins at the #2 singles spot, alongside Drinkard; the team was able to win two matches at #1 doubles.

The Hornet women finished the year with a record of 1-12/0-12 ODAC and will look to rebound next season.
