LC Women Compete at ODAC Individual Tournament

NORFOLK, VA- The Lynchburg College women's tennis team competed at Virginia Wesleyan in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women's individual tournament hosted by Virginia Wesleyan this past weekend.

 The Hornets totaled four victories in the tournament by juniors Kelsey Bergen, Betsy Stipa, and Ari Peikin, and sophomore Melissa Drinkard.

 Bergen played a tough competitor, Molly Barb from Shenandoah University, outlasting her in a third set to win 2-6, 6-4, 6-4. Peikin won her first round match with a score of 6-2, 6-3 against Caitlin Hoerr from Hollins University. Stipa won 6-0, 6-1 on Saturday against Randolph-Macon's Morgan Parks.  Drinkard defeated Kaitlyn Kolster from Randolph College 6-0, 6-0.

 On Sunday, Stipa competed against Victoria Torres from Virginia Wesleyan in her second round match.  The junior came back from being down 1-4 in the eight game pro-set.  The final score was 5-6, with the match being incomplete due to rain.

 The Hornet women will be back in action in the spring.
