LC Women's Tennis Edges Emory & Henry 5-4

LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College women's tennis team finished off the 2011-12 regular season on a high note, swinging past Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) opponent Emory & Henry College 5-4 in a home match on Saturday.

Sophomore Kelsey Bergen teamed up with senior Berry Morse to capture an 8-0 victory at #2 doubles, while sophomore Hailey Bettencourt and freshman Madison Dixon won 8-4 at #3 doubles.

Freshman Melissa Drinkard took #2 singles, winning by a score of 6-1, 6-4 and sophomore Betsy Stipa was successful at #3 singles garnering a 6-3, 6-1 win. Bettencourt also won at #6 singles 6-0, 6-1.

This is a crucial win for the Hornet women (5-10/3-7) as it currently puts them in seventh in the ODAC. As it stands now, LC is in position to qualify for the ODAC Tournament. Further information on the ODAC Tournament will be announced at a later date.
