LC WS Breezes Past Randolph-Macon 9-1 in ODAC Quarterfinals
Hornets Will Host a Semifinal Game Wednesday

LYNCHBURG, VA – Sophomore forward Dessi Dupuy posted a hat trick Saturday afternoon as the third-seeded Lynchburg College women's soccer team breezed to a 9-1 victory over #6 seed Randolph-Macon College in the quarterfinals of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Tournament. #7 Shenandoah University upset #2 Washington & Lee University 3-2 in double overtime in other tournament action earlier in the day, assuring LC a semifinal home game on Wednesday against SU on Shellenberger Field.

Junior Angela Bosco scored from senior Kristen Melchiori just 3:32 into the game, and the Hornets took a 3-0 lead mid-way through the half. Following a Yellow Jacket goal, Lynchburg scored twice more before intermission and added four second-half tallies.

Dupuy posted three goals and an assist to add to her ODAC-leading goal total, now sitting at 24 on the season. Bosco posted two goals and an assist and senior Shelley Hoath added two scores. Sophomore Dana Nelsen had a goal and an assist and junior Anne Neville Broaddus also found the back of the net. Sophomore Kaitlyn Ludwig had an assist.

Erin Hauser scored for Randolph-Macon (8-9). Elizabeth Bianco and Briana Housekeeper split time in net and combined for nine saves.

The Hornets held healthy statistical advantages in shots (35-7) and corner kicks (7-1). Dupuy's 24 scores leave her just three goals shy of the LC single-season mark, set by Dupuy last fall. Bosco now has 57 points (22G, 13 A), putting her in fourth place all-time and seven away from tying the school record.

LC, ranked 10th in the nation this week, improves to 17-0-3 on the season. The game-time for Wednesday's semifinal game against Shenandoah has yet to be set. Top-seeded Virginia Wesleyan College defeated #8 Emory & Henry College 8-0 Saturday, and the Marlins await the winner of the #4 Bridgewater College/#5 Roanoke College game.
