LC Women's Soccer Defeats Hollins 11-0
LYNCHBURG, VA – The 12th-ranked Lynchburg College women's soccer team defeated Hollins University 11-0 Wednesday evening in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) game.
LC scored four times in the first 18 minutes and added three tallies before halftime to take a 7-0 lead into intermission. Four Hornet second-half tallies finished the scoring.
Junior forward Angela Bosco distributed four-straight assists in the first half, and also scored once herself. Sophomore forward Dessi Dupuy had a hat trick, and juniors Rachel Sadowski and Michelle Stevens each scored twice. Senior Nikki Rhodes posted a goal and an assist and junior Karsen Schottleutner had her first career goal. Senior Kristen Melchiori scored, sophomore Kara Schaffer had two assists, and Anne Neville Broaddus also had one helper.
Brandi Chase made 10 saves for Hollins (4-11/2-8 ODAC). Lynchburg out-shot its guests 40-1 and held an 11-0 edge in corner kicks.
The Hornets (14-0-3/7-0-3) host Shenandoah University Saturday at 2 p.m. in another conference clash. The Hornet seniors will be honored in a pre-game ceremony and the contest is a part of Homecoming 2012.
