LC Women Upend Salisbury 4-1

SALISBURY, MD – Sophomore forward Dessi Dupuy continued her recent scoring outburst Sunday afternoon, netting two goals as the ninth-ranked Lynchburg College women's soccer team defeated Salisbury University 4-1. In the last five games, Dupuy has found the back of the net nine times.

Hornet junior Angela Bosco opened the scoring at the 31:42 mark of the first half, but Sea Gull Erin Mooney answered back three minutes later. Dupuy scored what would prove to be the game winner 36 minutes into play, splitting two defenders after a throw-in.

Senior Shelley Hoath made the score 3-1 at the 63:05 mark with another unassisted tally, and Dupuy added an insurance goal from junior Gracie Withers with 14 minutes left

Lynchburg out-shot Salisbury 13-6, but SU held a 4-3 edge in corner kicks. The Sea Gulls (8-5) were ranked 10th in the South Atlantic Region this week, while LC occupied the #3 spot.

The Hornets (13-0-3) host Hollins University Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
