LC Women's Soccer Rides Strong Second Half to 3-0 Victory
LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College women's soccer team appeared a little sluggish early on but rode a strong second half to capture a 3-0 victory over Emory and Henry College in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action Tuesday night.
The first half saw the Hornets collect more offside calls than shots, but thanks to a penalty kick goal from junior Rachel Sadowski, LC was able to keep a 1-0 lead at the half.
Lynchburg kept the ball in the offensive zone for the majority of the second period thanks to aggressive play by the forwards and midfielders.
Sophomore Dessi Dupuy scored her sixth goal of the season on a beautiful ball at 60:40. Dupuy took the pass, broke through several defenders, finally breaking free enough to rip a shot into the back of the goal.
The game was winding down when LC added the additional insurance. With the time at 88:19, Angela Bosco took the pass in from Dana Nelsen to score her eleventh goal of the season and take the team lead in points. Nelsen broke past several defenders on the right end line to set up the pass to Bosco.
Sarah Jerome made nine saves for the Wasps (3-8/2-5).
LC outshot Emory and Henry 33-1. The Hornets also had the advantage in corner kicks, 11-0.
Lynchburg (10-0-2/4-0-2) travels to Bridgewater College on Saturday, October 6 for an 11 a.m. start.
