LC/W&L Women Fight to 0-0 Double Overtime Tie

LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College and Washington & Lee University women's soccer teams battled to a 0-0 double overtime tie Sunday afternoon in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) game on Shellenberger Field.

Both teams' defenses were tough through 110 minutes of soccer, limiting the scoring opportunities. Lynchburg pressured to score early in the second half in the 54th minute, earning three consecutive corner kicks and firing two shots.

The Generals had perhaps their best opportunity to come away with a win midway through the first 10-minute overtime period, but a Lauren Abraham header went just wide. Hornet senior Shelley Hoath created an opportunity for herself three minutes into the second OT, but Addie Healy made a diving save on Hoath's shot attempt from just inside the box.

LC out-shot Washington & Lee 19-10 and held a 7-4 edge in corner kicks. Senior keeper Audrey Moore made three stops to preserve the shutout, while Healy made eight stops.

The Hornets (9-0-2/3-0-2) host Emory & Henry College Tuesday at 6 p.m. in more ODAC action. The Generals are now 6-2-1 overall and 4-1-1 in conference play.
