Big First Half Propels Hornets Over Vixens

SWEET BRIAR, VA – The #11 Lynchburg College women's soccer team got back to its winning ways on Saturday.  After finishing with a scoreless tie on Wednesday, the Hornets defeated Sweet Briar College with four first half goals in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) matchup.

LC jumped out to a quick start with reigning Hornet of the Week Morgan Singer scoring her third goal of the year.  Nikki Rhodes sent a pass to Singer two minutes into the game, who then headed the ball past Vixen goalkeeper Katherine Tillson.

Angela Bosco scored the next two for the Hornets, with the first coming unassisted in the 11th minute.  She scored her second 14 minutes later off of a pass from Jade Woll.  Woll finished off the scoring for Lynchburg with her first career goal at 39:33, with Grace Withers helping on the goal.

Sweet Briar held off the LC attack in the second half, but the first half deficit was too large to come back from.  Lynchburg held the Vixens without a shot or a corner kick while registering 38 shots and 13 corners in the game.

Tillson led Sweet Briar (0-4 overall, 0-2 ODAC) with 14 saves in the game.  Audrey Moore, Karsen Schottleutner, and Jessica Brownell played in net to combine for the third straight  LC shutout.

Lynchburg (5-0-1, 1-0-1) will continue its road trip, travelling to Fayetteville, NC to take on Methodist University on Sunday.  First kick is scheduled for 2 p.m.
