Lynchburg College and Fredonia State called Due to Lightning

SALEM, VA – The Lynchburg College women's soccer team's match Saturday against Fredonia State (1-0) has been ruled a no contest due to lightning, according to Roanoke College event managers.

There was 33:28 left to go in the game with LC ahead 4-1 on goals by Nikki Rhodes, Rachel Sadowski, Mary Beier, and Morgan Singer (pictured) when the weather interrupted play. According to NCAA rules, 70 minutes must be completed before a winner can be declared in this situation. Thus, no stats count from the game and neither team will be assessed a win, loss or draw.

The contest will not be made up.

The Hornets (1-0) play next at Southern Virginia (0-1) in a non-conference match on September 4 at 4 p.m.
