Hornet Women's Soccer Showcase Brings in Over 200 Participants
The 2012 Lynchburg College Women's Soccer Showcase was a huge success!
Old man winter and his mixture of chilly temperatures, rain, sleet, and a handful of snow appeared on the campus of Lynchburg College during the weekend of the 2012 Lynchburg College Women's Soccer Showcase. The winter weather did not deter the over 230 registered participants from attending this year's Showcase hosted by Lynchburg College Women's Soccer players and coaches.
Adorned in brightly colored, long sleeve T-shirts these soccer players competed in games of 8 vs. 8 on Lynchburg's own Shellenberger Field. The field was divided into two fields side by side. Games were 50 minutes in length and ran concurrently on the two fields. Players were exposed to more frequent touches on the ball and a more highly intense game than a regular game because of the condensed space and numbers.
The showcase was not all about soccer. A college recruiting seminar was held Saturday afternoon which provided a break in action as well as an opportunity for players, parents, and coaches to ask questions about the recruiting process. College coaches from all three NCAA divisions were on the panel to field questions. We had a tremendous turnout and variety of terrific questions asked and answered. Lynchburg College campus tours were also provided throughout the weekend by current Lynchburg College Women's Soccer players.
