Guilford, Shenandoah Receive Byes thru First Round
Story Courtesy of the ODAC Office
FOREST, Va. --- Guilford College heads into the 2013 ODAC Women's Lacrosse Tournament as the top seed with an unscathed 10-0 league mark as part of a 15-1 overall record. The Quakers are currently on a 14-game winning streak and look to capture their first-ever women's lacrosse conference crown.
The second and third positions were determined by head-to-head tie-breakers between Shenandoah University (11-4, 8-2) and Roanoke College (9-7, 8-2). SU defeated RC, 14-11, back in March, so the Hornets join Guilford as one of two squads receiving a bye into the semifinals. The Maroons will host one quarterfinal as the third seed, while Washington and Lee University (7-9, 6-4) will host the other first round contest as the fourth seed.
The fifth and sixth slots also required head-to-head tie-breakers between Lynchburg College (9-7, 6-4) and Randolph-Macon College (11-5, 6-4). LC topped R-MC, 14-12, earlier this month, so the Hornets will make the trip over the mountain to W&L as the fifth seed, while the Yellow Jackets travel to Roanoke as the sixth seed.
Quarterfinal play begins on Wednesday, April 24, with the semifinals set for Saturday or Sunday, April 27/28. The winners of the semifinals will play on Saturday or Sunday, May 4/5. The dates are contingent upon graduation and/or exam dates of the competing schools.
