LYNCHBURG, VA – More honors came in this weekend for the 2012 Lynchburg College women's lacrosse team, as three Hornets were named All-Chesapeake Region by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Association (IWLCA).

Senior attack Lesley Buckingham earned first-team accolades, making her eligible for All-American honors, to be announced May 24. Buckingham, an attack, broke the school career records for points (262) and goals (200) during the year, and also set the single-season top marks in these two categories, with 96 points and 69 goals. She ranked 31st in NCAA Division III points and 32nd in points-per game.

Junior Julie Will and sophomore Brianna LaMarca earned spots on the second team.  Will, a midfielder, finished the season with 31 goals, ranking her fourth on the team, and added eight assists. She led LC with 40 ground balls and 49 draw controls and also caused 15 turnovers.

LaMarca helped anchor a defense that allowed just over 10 goals a game. She was third on the team with 29 ground balls and tied for the team lead with 23 caused turnovers. LaMarca added seven draw controls.

The Hornets finished the season 11-7 overall, 7-2 in conference play, and tied for second in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference regular season.

The IWLCA will honor the National All-Americans at the IWLCA All-American banquet on June 16, 2012 at the Radisson Hotel Valley Forge in King of Prussia, Pa.
