Lesley Buckingham Tallies Eight Points as LC Women Defeat R-MC 16-5

LYNCHBURG, VA – Senior attack Lesley Buckingham scored five goals and added three assists Wednesday afternoon as the Lynchburg College women's lacrosse team defeated Randolph-Macon College 16-5 in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) game.

Buckingham scored five minutes into the game, but the Yellow Jackets netted the next two goals to take a 2-1 lead at the 21:08 mark. The Hornets rattled off the next five goals, two each from Buckingham and junior attack Kendall Adkin, to take a 6-2 edge. Following a R-MC tally, two more LC scores before halftime made the count 8-3 heading into intermission.

LC found the back of the net eight-straight times after the break to put the game away.

Adkin scored four times for Lynchburg, while sophomore midfielder Bri Slate had three goals and an assist. Junior Julie Will scored twice and freshman Katie Seidel had a goal and an assist. Freshman Abby Sard also had a goal for the Hornets and freshman Hailey Bossert made nine saves. Buckingham also gathered in six draw controls, grabbed five ground balls and caused two turnovers. Sophomore Brianna LaMarca caused four turnovers and corralled four groundballs.

Audrey Hester had two goals for the Yellow Jackets (7-6/4-3 ODAC). Nicole Woodworth made 20 stops for R-MC.

Lynchburg (8-5/5-1 ODAC) travels to conference leader Washington & Lee University on Saturday at 1 p.m.
