LC Women's Lax Defeats Bridgewater College 16-7
LYNCHBURG, VA - Using an 8-0 run in the second half Saturday afternoon, the Lynchburg College women's lacrosse team defeated Bridgewater College 16-7 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play.
Sophomore Bri Slate led the Hornets with four goals, while junior Kendall Adkin had three goals and one assist. Junior Julie Will and junior Carley Dobson also had three goals each. Freshman Ryland Scott, junior Sarah Shannon and freshman Katie Seidel added one goal and one assist each. Senior Lesley Buckingham had three assists.
In the opening minutes, Bridgewater had a 2-0 advantage, but at 21:54 Bri Slate scored to put Lynchburg on the board and Will added a goal minutes later to tie the score. The Hornets were down 4-3 at halftime.
Beginning the second half, Slate scored to tie the game at 4-4. The Hornets would never look back scoring seven unanswered goals and scored 13 goals total after intermission to lead them to a 16-7 victory. The LC defense held BC to only three second-half goals.
Paige Hennessy, Katie Freeman and Megan Bach scored two goals each for the Eagles (3-5/1-2 ODAC). Taylor Chamberlain added one goal as well.
LC went 3-3 on free position shots. Sarah Shannon had four ground balls and Katie Seidel had four draw controls.
Lynchburg (4-3, 2-0 ODAC) will travel to Roanoke College on Wednesday at 4 p.m. for another ODAC game.
