Four Hornets Selected to All-Chesapeake Region Team

LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College women's lacrosse team had four student-athletes honored Thursday with the release of the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-Chesapeake Region team for 2011.  These athletes are now eligible for inclusion on the IWLCA All-American team, which will be announced on May 31.

Juniors Lesley Buckingham and Christina Tran earned first-team recognition. Buckingham, an attack, was named to the All-ODAC First-Team last week for the second year in a row while breaking her own school record in goals scored. She scored a team-high 65 goals, which ranked third in the conference - and finished fourth in the ODAC in total points with 89. Tran, an All-ODAC first-team goalie this spring, ranked at the top of the conference in save percentage (.528) and goals against average (8.60).

Seniors Morgan Logue and Emily McMillan received second-team All-Chesapeake Region honors. Both earned first-team All-ODAC accolades. Logue tallied 33 goals and 18 assists while winning 31 draw controls and causing 23 turnovers. Lynchburg's defense was tops in the ODAC thanks to McMillan. LC ranked first in the ODAC in goals against average with 7.95 goals per game. McMillan nabbed 23 groundballs and caused 10 turnovers.

Lynchburg finished the season 12-5 including an 8-1 record in the conference.
