Lynchburg Women's Lax Defeats Ursinus 14-7
MYRTLE BEACH, SC – Junior Lesley Buckingham (Herndon, VA/Herndon) scored four times to help the Lynchburg College women's lacrosse team defeat Ursinus College 14-7 on Wednesday afternoon in non-conference play. Buckingham added two assists in the contest as well.
Lynchburg stormed to a 4-0 advantage early and never led by less than three goals throughout the contest.
Sophomore Kendall Adkin (New Milford, CT/New Milford) added three goals for the Hornets. Fellow sophomores Sarah Shannon (Richmond, VA/Douglas Freeman) and Julie Will (Bel Air, MD/C. Milton Wright) each netted two goals.
Junior Christina Tran (Sterling, VA/Severn) got the starting nod in goal and made five saves. Freshmen Paige Gadsby (The Woodlands, TX/The Woodlands) and Brianna LaMarca (Lindenhurst, NY/Lindenhurst) both caused three turnovers each, helping anchor the Lynchburg defense.
LC (3-2) travels to play Adrian College next Saturday and Wittenberg College next Sunday in Springfield, Ohio. Game time for both games is scheduled for 1 p.m.
