Allan and Penley Receive ODAC Honors for Season Efforts

FOREST, VA – The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) announced its league awards on Wednesday and two Hornets, sophomores Shannon Allan and Lauren Penley, received recognition for their efforts.

Allan continued her second season in Lynchburg right where she left off, becoming one of three forwards named First Team All-ODAC. The sophomore from Warwick, New York is second in the conference at 18.1 points per game. She has surpassed the 20-point mark ten times this season, as well as setting her career-high twice this year, including a 33-point outburst against Randolph-Macon College in the regular season finale.

She also leads the Hornets in free throw (89%) and three-point (36.9%) percentages as well as blocks per game (1.4). Her three-point percentage is good for fifth in the ODAC.

Penley was named Third Team All-ODAC, having made a big impact for the Hornets in her first season since transferring from Division II Pfeiffer University. The sophomore is second on the team in scoring at 9.5 points per game. She leads the Hornets in field goal percentage (48.6%) and rebounds per game (7.0).

Bridgewater College guard Jessica Mullen was named ODAC Player of the Year while Eastern Mennonite University's Kevin Griffin received Coach of the Year. Katie Anderson from Randolph-Macon was named Rookie of the Year, while Washington and Lee's Katy Wilson rounded out the awards as the ODAC Scholar-Athlete.
