Shannon Allan Scores Career-High 33 to lead LC Women over R-MC 96-86

ASHLAND, VA - Sophomore forward Shannon Allan posted a career-high 33 points Saturday to lead the Lynchburg College women's basketball team to a 96-86 victory at Randolph-Macon College in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play.

The first half was tight the entire 20 minutes, with the Hornets able to pull ahead 38-36 heading into halftime.

The Hornets led by a small margin for most of the second half, but the Yellow Jackets took a 63-62 lead with 10 minutes left to play. Allan drilled a three-pointer a minute later and R-MC would never regain the advantage. LC led 85-82 with 2:32 on the game clock and finished on an 11-4 run, the last eight points from Allan.

Allan hit 10 of her 15 shots from the floor, 2-of-3 from beyond the three-point arc and was 11-12 from the free-throw line. She also added five assists, three blocked shots and two steals. Freshman forward Chaney Forbush tied a career-high with 19 points, snared a game-high 10 rebounds and also blocked three shots. Sophomore Lauren Penley had 14 points and sophomore guard Katie Reeves added 13.

Sarah Parsons had 25 points and five three-pointers for Randolph-Macon (5-20/4-12 ODAC). Katie Andserson added 22 points, nine rebounds and five steals.

The Hornets end the regular season with a record of 16-9 and 10-6 overall. LC, the fifth seed, will host a first-round ODAC playoff game Monday evening against Randolph College at 7 p.m.
