LC Women Defeat Hollins 58-45
LYNCHBURG, VA – A strong defensive effort propelled the Lynchburg College women's basketball team to a 58-45 victory Wednesday night over Hollins University in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) contest.
The Hornets held HU to just 27 percent shooting (14-52) from the floor for the game, including a 23 percent mark in the first half (5-22).
Lynchburg finished off the first half with a 6-0 run to enter intermission with a 25-15 lead. A 16-7 surge after the break put LC ahead by 19 and the Hornets never looked back.
Freshman forward Chaney Forbush led all scorers with 19 points, hitting 6-of-9 from the field. She added a team-best eight rebounds, and made seven of her nine attempts from the free-throw line. Sophomore guard Katie Reeves drilled three three-pointers en route to 11 points with three assists and three rebounds. Freshman Sarah Toliver was 4-of-5 from the field for eight points and sophomore forward Shannon Allan added six points and six boards.
Jasmine Green scored 14 points for Hollins (1-5/0-3 ODAC), and Chanci Wright contributed 11 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Mackenzie Miller added 11 points.
Lynchburg (4-3/2-0 ODAC) hosts Southern Virginia University Friday night in a non-conference game at 7 p.m.
