Bridgewater Women's Basketball Outpaces Lynchburg
BRIDGEWATER, VA – The Lynchburg College women's basketball could not overcome Bridgewater College on Friday night, as the Hornets fell 68-49 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play.
Freshman guard Katie Reeves scored 11 points and also tallied five steals to go along with four rebounds in the game. Senior Katie Crump scored eight points while junior Caitlin Falls registered seven points and five rebounds.
Lynchburg took its first lead of the game at the 12:49 mark of the first half off a layup from sophomore Caleigh Patterson making the score 10-9. LC extended the lead to 20-13 at 7:23 before Bridgewater rallied in the last few minutes of the half to lead 32-27.
BC kept the Hornets at bay throughout the second half, forcing Lynchburg to shoot 27% from the field while the Eagles shot 54% in the final frame en route to a 68-49 final score.
Lynchburg managed to keep Bridgewater from hitting threes, as the Eagles went 1-11 from beyond the arc.
Bridgewater (11-6/7-5 ODAC) was led by Jessica Mullen who scored 19 points and Shannan Thorne who put up 14 points and six rebounds.
LC (4-13/3-9 ODAC) host Eastern Mennonite University on Saturday at 4 p.m. in Turner Gym.
