Guilford Drops LC Softball 9-0 in ODAC Winner's Bracket

SALEM, VA – The Guilford College softball team defeated Lynchburg College 9-0 in six innings Saturday afternoon in the semifinals of the winner's bracket in the 2014 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Tournament, hosted at the James I. Moyer Sports Complex.

Maggie Shaffer earned her 14th win in the circle for GC, allowing just four hits and one walk in six frames. Jessi Hall, Amber Ingram and Nicole Riley all hit doubles for Lynchburg and Danielle Powell singled, but all in different innings.

Guilford led 1-0 in the third, and went ahead 3-0 on a two-run homer from Rachel Howard. The Quakers scored three runs in the fifth and the game ended on a three-run blast from Marty Wilcox in the bottom of the sixth. Four LC errors aided GC.

Lynchburg (29-13) squares off with Eastern Mennonite University at 3:30 p.m. in an elimination game. Live stats are available at: http://livestats.prestosports.com/odac/
