LC Softball Splits DH at Randolph-Macon
ASHLAND, VA - The Lynchburg College softball team defeated Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) foe Randolph-Macon College in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader 11-1, but dropped the opener 7-1.
Middle infielders Sharese Jarvis and Sam Moore powered the Yellow Jackets to victory in the opener, each slamming a pair of home runs and combining for five runs and six RBI. Kelsey McLaughlin allowed six hits, no walks and one unearned run to earn the complete-game victory.
Skylar Seals went 2-3 with a double for LC.
The story was different in the second contest, as Lynchburg took a 4-0 lead after three innings and never looked back. The Hornets put the game out of reach with four runs in the sixth and three in the seventh.
Amber Ingram went the distance in the circle for LC, allowing just five hits and two walks while striking out nine Yellow Jackets.
Sophomore Danielle Powell went 2-3 with a home run and two RBI, and Nicole Shipp also had two hits and two RBI. Seals, Jessi Hall and Kayla St. John recorded two hits apiece and Logan Walker hit a pinch-hit three-run double to account for the LC three-run seventh inning.
Christine Simon went 2-4 for Randolph-Macon (14-6/6-4 ODAC).
Lynchburg (17-9/5-3 ODAC) stays on the road for another ODAC twin bill Sunday, facing Virginia Wesleyan College in Virginia Beach at 1 p.m.
