Melanie Tenney Earns ODAC Player of the Week Honors Again

FOREST, VA – Although the season is just four weeks old, Lynchburg College senior Melanie Tenney earned her second Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) softball player of the year award.

Tenney, from Yorktown, Va., picks up her second weekly award of the season after helping Lynchburg to a 4-2 week. She was red-hot at the dish, going 12-for-18 with three doubles and a pair of homers. Tenney added 12 runs scored and 14 RBI in addition to a pair of stolen bases and three walks towards a .714 on-base percentage. She had four multi-hit games, including a 4-for-4 showing with two doubles and five RBI in a 12-2 win over Wilkes University. She had three hits including a double and homer with five more RBI in a 15-5 triumph over Rutgers-Newark.

For the season, Tenney is second in the ODAC with a .595 batting average, 21 runs scored and 21 RBI. Her three homers are tied atop the conference.

The Hornets (9-3) travel to the University of Mary Washington for a non-conference doubleheader Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
