EMU Takes Two from LC Softball
Hornets Enter ODAC Tournament with #2 Seed

HARRISONBURG, VA - The Eastern Mennonite University softball team took both ends of an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) doubleheader Sunday, 9-5, 7-2 from 16th-ranked Lynchburg College.

The Royals scored five runs in the first inning and four in the fifth to slug their way to victory in the first game. Molly Smith and Aislinn Lucas each had three-run homers.

Michaela Munday 2-2 with a home run for Lynchburg. Nicole Riley and Jessi Hall each delivered two-run base hits in Lynchburg's four-run second inning.

EMU took an early 3-0 lead in the nightcap, but Lynchburg took advantage of an error to score twice in the top of the fourth to cut the lead to 3-2. The Royals extended the lead in the bottom of the fifth with four runs, as Courtney Allman hit a two-run homer and LC committed two errors.

Munday and Cassie Phillips each had two hits for LC in game two. Smith was 3-3 for Eastern Mennonite (21-17/9-11).

Lynchburg finishes the regular season 30-9 and 15-5 in the ODAC. The Hornets enter the conference tournament with the second seed, and will face #7 Randolph College Friday at 2 p.m. The three-day, double elimination tournament will be hosted in the James I. Moyer Sports Complex in Salem, VA.
