LC Softball Garners Four All-ODAC Selections

FOREST, VA – The Lynchburg College softball team earned four All-Conference selections this week as announced by the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) on Friday.

Senior Taylor Walker, freshman Jessi Hall and sophomore Melanie Tenney were named to the All-ODAC Second Team while freshman Hope Johnson picked up All-ODAC Third Team honors.

A stalwart at shortstop for the past four seasons, Walker started all 36 games she appeared in this season for the Hornets. She led the team with 38 hits and was second on the team in batting average with a .362 mark. Walker also had 26 RBI on the season.

Hall had an impressive .310 batting average with 36 hits, including four doubles, two triples, and three home run. She also stole 10 bases and totaled 12 RBI while finishing in the top 25 of the nation in sacrifice hits with 13.

Tenney proved to by a dynamic player on offense and defense for Lynchburg, as she tallied 23 runs and 12 RBI while stealing four bases. She had nine outfield assists and 31 putouts on the season in centerfield.

Johnson rounded out the selections for Lynchburg with a third-team selection. The freshman pitcher finished with a record of 7-5 and an ERA of 3.89. She registered 50 strikeouts on the year and held opponent's batting average below .300. Johnson threw a no-hitter on March 31 against Emory and Henry College.

Lynchburg finished with a 21-19 overall record with a 12-6 mark in conference, which put them in a tie for third-place.
