Salisbury Sweeps LC Softball

SALISBURY, MD -The Salisbury University softball team swept Lynchburg College in a non-conference doubleheader Thursday afternoon – games that were rescheduled after being washed out last weekend.

The Sea Gulls scored two runs in the second and seven in the third en route to a 9-0 victory in five innings in the first game.  Senior Meagan Fredenberg had the Hornets' only hit, while sophomore Cassie Phillips threw 1.1 innings of scoreless relief. Michelle Gravdahl went 3-3 for Salisbury while Hannah Mills hit a grand slam. Erika Brittingham threw a complete game, allowing just one hit and two walks with six strikeouts.

The Hornets fell 4-1 in the nightcap. Amber Ingram, Taylor Walker, Phillips and Melanie Tenney each had hits for LC, while Ingram threw 1.2 innings of scoreless relief. SU's Rachel Johnson struck out 10 over seven innings to earn the win.

The Hornets (4-8) will compete Friday and Saturday at the Sea Gull Classic Tournament.
