LC Trio Named ODAC Players of the Week

FOREST, VA – Lynchburg College netted three Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) players of the week on Monday, as announced by the conference office.

Freshman softball player Kaitlyn Morris earned the ODAC nod for softball pitcher of the week. She led the Hornets to two wins in the first collegiate games of her career. She threw two complete games, allowing just 15 hits and three walks over 14 innings with three strikeouts.

For indoor track and field, junior LaCear Hubbard won the triple jump and the long jump competitions on Saturday at the VMI Winter Relays.  Hubbard jumped 36'7" in the triple jump and 17'9.5" in the long jump.  She currently sits 23rd in the nation in the triple jump and 27th in the long jump. The Madison Heights, VA native also finished second in the 55m, with a time of 7.60. Hubbard sits atop the ODAC in the long jump and triple jump after her performances on Saturday.

Junior Eric Van Dunk continued LC's dominance in throwing events. In the shot put Saturday at the VMI Relays, Van Dunk won the event. He threw the shot 49'11.75" which was a career best and puts him second in the ODAC. He also took fourth in the weight throw with a heave of 38'06.75".
