LC Men's Cross Country Places Second Overall; First D3 School at CNU

NEWPORT NEWS, VA – The Lynchburg College men's cross country team took second place overall and finished first among Division III schools Saturday at the Christopher Newport University Invitational at the Lee Hall Mansion.

The top five Hornet runners finished just over a minute from each other. Junior Cody Stanton took sixth overall in 25:44, followed close behind by senior Lawrence Minor (seventh - 26:05) and sophomore Anthony McBride (eighth - 26:06). Nolan Compton crossed the finish line in 26:30, good for 15th place, and Evan Parry was 18th in 26:47.

VCU won the team title with 48 points, with LC just six points behind in the 13-team field.

Lynchburg is off next weekend in preparation for the 2012 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championships, Saturday, October 27, hosted by Eastern Mennonite University.
