LC Cross Country Places 29th at NCAA Championships, Completes Season

WAVERLY, IA - The Lynchburg College men's cross country team finished the 2010 season by placing 29th with 726 points and a total time of 2:10:58.8 at the Division-III NCAA Championships at Wartburg College on Saturday.

Senior Ryan Van Alstine (Midland Park, NJ/Midland Park) finished 46th overall with a time of 25:11.9 leading Lynchburg. Freshman Cody Stanton (Memphis, NY/Jordan Elbridge) finished 137th in the time of 25:59.3, sophomore Nolan Compton (Manassas, VA/Osbourn Park) finished 153rd and sophomore Brian Robinson (Sterling, VA/Potomac Falls) registered a time of 26:39.5. Junior Daniel Cutright (Montpelier, VA/Louisa County) came in at 26:56.7 and senior Brandon Demers (Cypress, TX/Leonardtown) rounded off Lynchburg's runners with a time of 27:08.6.

Lynchburg this season won their 15th Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) title and made their seventh appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The Hornets also won the South/Southeast Region for the first time since 1993 and their fifth total regional title.
