Thomasey Named Outdoor Men's Region Coach of the Year

NEW ORLEANS, LA – On Friday, the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the regional award winners with the national meet only a week away.  Lynchburg College head mentor Doug Thomasey took home the South/Southeast Region Men's Coach of the Year.

Thomasey led the Hornets to the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Outdoor title for the fifth-straight year, with three of them coming under his watch.  At the meet, six events were won by LC athletes and Thomasey was named ODAC Coach of the Year by his peers for the third year in a row.  Lynchburg currently sits 150 points ahead of its nearest competitor in the regional rankings, as scored by the USTFCCCA.

Thomasey is no stranger to region coach of the year awards.  He won the indoor edition last year and has won the cross country award for the past the past three years.

One member of the men's team and one member of the women's team will compete at the national meet, hosted by UW-La Crosse this upcoming weekend.
