Distance Runners Travel to Duke University

DURHAM, NC – Several distance runners of the Lynchburg College men's and women's track and field teams traveled to Duke University on Friday.  Many of the athletes had solid outings, setting numerous PRs at the Duke Invitational.

Evan Perry started it off for the men, setting a career best in the 1500 meter race at 4:01.19, which also had finish as the second best Division III athlete.  Two Hornets set personal bests in the 5000 meter run.  Cody Stanton ran the race in 14:47.86 and Andrew Osborne finished in 15:30.33, both finished in the top-10 of D-III runners.

Ashley Saba set a PR for herself on Friday in the 1500.  She finished in a time of 4:57.68, nearly ten seconds better than her previous best.  Running in her first 10,000 meter run, Kiley Trennepohl took the top spot among Division III athletes with a time of 38:19.85.

The rest of the team will finish up competing at the Liberty Collegiate Invitational on Saturday.  After that, neither team will be in action until the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) outdoor championships on April 20.
