Wilson Named ODAC Athlete of the Week

FOREST, VA – Lynchburg College men's track and field thrower Greg Wilson was among those honored by the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) office on Monday.  Each week, the ODAC releases its players/athletes of the week, and for the second time in his career, Wilson won the award for men's track and field.  It is also the second week in a row that a member of the Lynchburg men's track and field team has won the award, following Tom Sippie last week.

Wilson dominated at the Doc Jopson Invite on Saturday.  He won two of the three events he competed in.  The only competition he lost, the discus throw, he lost to teammate Spencer Latham by only 10 inches.  Wilson took home the shot put (48'4") and hammer throw (155'9") titles.  In the shot, the next closest competitor finished 1 ½ feet behind, and in the hammer, the second place finisher was over 13 feet behind.

Wilson and the rest of the Hornets return to action this weekend as they host the Commonwealth Duals, which start at 2 p.m.  It is a head-to-head meet, with Bridgewater College, Eastern Mennonite University, University of Mary Washington, and SUNY-Oneonta coming to battle Lynchburg.
