Hornets Perform at Highlander Invitational
RADFORD, VA – Members of the Lynchburg College men's and women's track and field teams finished competing in the two-day Highlander Invitational on Saturday, hosted by Radford University. The meet mainly featured Division I and II schools.
For the women on Saturday, Christina Washington won the 400 meter dash for the second straight week, with a time of 59.77. In the 200 meter dash, Jasmyne Johnson set a career best in a time of 26.54. Kori Penick threw the shot 39'2.25", to finish second among Division III athletes.
During the Friday portion of the invite, thrower Leah Heal set a personal best in the javelin. Her distance of 124'1" gave her second place, beating 11 athletes from Division I and II, and it was the fourth longest throw in school history.
The next meet for the Hornets will be on May 6, as they will head down to Durham, North Carolina for the Duke Twilight.
