Bell Competes at Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, PA -Senior decathlete James Bell, fresh off two victories at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference championships this past weekend, finished second overall at the Penn Relays decathlon, after the two-day meet concluded on Wednesday.

Bell moved from third to second place on the second day of competition, which was mainly due in part to winning two of the final three events. He won the pole vault with a jump of 15'1" and then the 1500m in 4:51.41. Other notable performances over the two day event came in the shot put (36'10.5"), high jump (6'2.25"), 110m hurdles (15.86), and the javelin (167'7").

With this performance, Bell currently ranks eighth nationally in Division III.

Lynchburg will send a select group of individuals to the Highlander Invitational hosted by Radford University this weekend.
