LC Men Fly Past Randolph 8-1

LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College men's tennis team faced off against Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) opponent Randolph College on Friday and won 8-1.

Derek Kegerreis teamed up with Owen Landon at #2 doubles and captured an 8-5 win, while Matt Karvelas and Tyler Long competed at #3 doubles, winning 8-0.

Karvelas also took a hard fought 2-6, 6-4, 6-1 win at #1 singles, while Kegerreis took a decisive 6-4, 6-1 victory at #2 singles.  Josh Johnson fought hard to defeat Shaun Chopp at #3 singles 6-1, 0-6 (10-6). The tie breaker was played in lieu of a third set because the ultimate result was already decided.  Owen Landon battled to win 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) at #4 singles. Long won at #5 singles 6-3, 4-6, 6-1, while Kevin Lee earned the decision convincingly at #6 singles 6-0, 6-0.

The Hornet men (3-3 overall, 1-3 ODAC) will be back in action on Wednesday, April 3 when they will travel to face Hampden-Sydney in an ODAC matchup at 3:30 p.m.
