Sheffield and Hinkle Honored on VaSID All-State Teams

BRIDGEWATER, VA—Senior Jonathan Sheffield was selected to the All-State First Team Monday with the release of the 2013 Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) College Division All-State men's soccer team.

Junior Josh Hinkle received second-team honors. It was the first all-state nod for both players.

Sheffield took over the goalkeeper duties this fall and excelled while starting all 19 contests while earning first-team All-ODAC accolades. He had a save percentage of .826 with 95 stops and a 1.04 goals-against average. Sheffield was second in saves in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) while also finishing fourth in save percentage.

Hinkle was the cornerstone of an LC defense that allowed just 20 goals in 19 matches. He also scored a goal and added an assist. Hinkle received first-team All-ODAC honors earlier this fall.

The Hornets finished with a record of 11-6-2 while winning eight matches in conference play and making it to the ODAC Semifinals.
